Close your eyes. Clear your heart.

Did you know that this painting is named after the song "Human" by The Killers? The lead singer Brandon Flowers wrote the song in response to a journalist’s claim that America was "raising a generation of dancers, afraid to take one step out of line". Flowers wrote about the fear of possibility and moving into the unknown - something that I’ve had to overcome in my life, not just with divorce, but just by being an artist! I painted this to remind myself to get out there and go for it. This is an important message from a woman, for supporters of women, and for all our daughters. I love making uplifting art so my collectors can live with these fabulous messages on their walls.

“Close your eyes. Clear your heart”, Acrylic on Canvas, Ready to Hang. 122cmW x 91.5cmH x 3.8cmD.

The flame red hair of the subject of the painting visually encapsulates the fiery spirit we all have on the inside to take risks and 'cut cords'. I have used a contemporary approach using techniques such as expressionism and pop art to capture my model in contrasting colours of teal, apple green, turquoise, red and orange. A gorgeous painting that has a lovely textural surface, with a message for all.
